Stage 03

Shading

Assign each opening to its storey and occupancy, then classify it as shaded, unshaded or southern from its orientation and shading geometry.

What you will learn

  • Link shading to the correct storey and occupancy.
  • Enter projection geometry in the selected unit.
  • Understand the shaded, unshaded and southern result categories.

Prepare before you start

  • Opening schedule
  • Storey and occupancy allocation
  • Sections or elevations showing projection, height and opening dimensions

Step by step

Complete this stage

1

Choose the opening

Select the opening name that the shading device serves so the result remains traceable.

2

Enter measured geometry

Use dimensions from coordinated elevations or sections and keep the project unit consistent.

3

Review the calculated relationship

For applicable solar orientations, compare entered P with required P = H x multiplier. Southern-sector openings remain a separate category.

4

Repeat for different devices

Create separate entries when openings have different overhangs, fins or installation conditions.

Quality check

  • Dimensions come from the current drawing issue.
  • Each opening is assigned to the occupancy it serves.
  • The result category is shaded, unshaded or southern rather than a generic pass label.

Use this guide with the current project documents, official standards available to your team and the review required for your professional role.
