Stage 04

Fenestration

Build the 2026 opening schedule for windows and doors, assessed independently by storey and occupancy or tenancy.

What you will learn

  • Create traceable opening records.
  • Use width, height and quantity to establish area.
  • Understand independent area-weighted U-value and SHGC checks.

Prepare before you start

  • Door and window schedule
  • Storey, occupancy and orientation for every opening
  • Width, height, quantity, whole-element U-value and SHGC

Step by step

Complete this stage

1

Add each opening type

Use a distinct name for each different size, orientation or performance specification.

2

Enter dimensions and quantity

Capture width and height directly; let the app calculate the repeated area.

3

Assign its calculation zone

Select the storey and occupancy or tenancy served by the opening. One occupancy cannot compensate for another.

4

Apply whole-element thermal data

Use values including frame effects, then review U-value across all vertical fenestration and SHGC separately for shaded, unshaded and southern groups.

Quality check

  • Opening names match drawings or schedules.
  • Every opening is assigned to the correct storey and occupancy.
  • Rooflights are excluded from the vertical-fenestration calculation.

Use this guide with the current project documents, official standards available to your team and the review required for your professional role.
