What You Need Before Starting

A current drawing set or sample project to practise with. The project location, building type and storey information. Window, door, roof, wall, floor or services schedules where relevant. Supplier evidence for any performance values you plan to rely on. A notebook for assumptions, missing information and review questions.

What You Will Learn

Outcome 1Identify which glazed elements form part of the building envelope assessment.
Outcome 2Separate solar and non-solar orientations before checking SHGC requirements.
Outcome 3Calculate per-storey fenestration percentage using nett floor area.
Outcome 4Use area-weighted U-value and SHGC checks instead of single-window assumptions.
Outcome 5Recognise when shading, roof lights, air leakage and condensation rules need extra attention.
